Week 8 : Practical skills in cognitive restructuring

Cognitive behavioural strategies
changing behaviour by challenging beliefs and attitudes
Cognitive behavioural approaches share the underlying assumption that people are disturbed not by events in their lives but by their beliefs about those events. It is a logical and practical approach to help people with their emotional problems. As such it can be extremely empowering and can be used for a wide variety of behavioural issues to bring lasting changes after relatively short interventions.

It can provide effective tools for working with students with the following issues:

- Anxiety - Aspergers - ADHD - Substance abuse - Emotional problems - Eating disorders - Trauma -
